My Career and Me - easy steps to plan for success.

The aim of this session is to support the learning, confidence and activity needed to plan a career. Often, we don’t consider or relate to having a career, this session will support you with tips and tools to enhance your confidence and enable you to seek career opportunities. Additionally, it will enable you to consider your career journey, what a career plan means to you and who can help with making a career plan.

What will you learn?

This 90-minute session will provide an opportunity to take time out to think about your role and career in the support workforce. This might be the first time you've thought about your role as a career, you may already know you want to develop your career but you're not sure how to get started and how to plan for success. If so, this short interactive session is definitely for you.

Neurodiversity: Our Voices

What is Neurodiversity? - Personal Accounts

The aim of this session is to increase awareness and deepen understanding of neurodiversity and how it effects both neurodiverse (ND) people and those around them. In this session you will learn about terms and theories that are popular amongst the ND community, as well as hear directly from ND people as they share their experiences.

This session is purposely focussed on personal experience, and will not aim to define or label neurodiversity, only highlight the experiences of those sharing their story.

What will you learn?

By listening to the voices of neurodiverse people and learning new language and theories, you should hopefully gain confidence in either advocating for yourself as a neurodiverse person or working with neurodiverse colleagues.

This session will offer insights into what it is like living and working as a neurodiverse person, highlighting what you can do to create a more inclusive and accepting working environment.

Resources for Neurodiverse colleagues:

Coping Skills for Stress and Uncomfortable Emotions (verywellmind.com) (good for all ND but specifically Autism)

Why neurodivergent women are diagnosed with ADHD and autism later in life, and what this means for their careers - The Brain Charity  (an interesting read for late diagnosed women!)

Useful Resources - ADHD UK (a mix of resources, self-help and reading – a lot to get through but some useful resources! Bookmark it and come back to it when you remember)

The Dyslexia Shop (exactly what it says, you can buy yourself reading aids, software and stationery. Predominantly aimed at younger audiences and teachers but great for buying your own resources. Also, while aimed at dyslexia there are some useful stationery and resources that would work for ADHD, Autism and other ND conditions!)
