ACCS Time Critical Patient Management Course (formerly ACCS Critical Care Skills)

Add to favourites

This one-day course provides ACCS trainees an excellent opportunity to train in the skills required to manage critically ill patients in the ward, emergency department or in intensive care.

Half of the day is skills development and the other half is immersive simulation.

Skills Development

In a safe simulated environment, candidates are provided the opportunity to develop and practice the following skills with expert and experienced faculty:

  • use of mechanical ventilation
  • blunt dissection surgical chest drain placement
  • performing a critical care intubation
  • performing procedural sedation

Immersive Simulation

During the other half of the day, candidates take part in immersive simulation scenarios. These scenarios are targeted at difficult to hit curriculum areas, encouraging development and reflection on technical and non-technical skills.

Eligibility:

Year 2 ACCS and EM trainees
