Aims and Learning Outcomes
Aims:
To have a better understanding of the main employment issues to be aware of when recruiting new employees and to provide tips on the retention of employees.
Please note: This course is aimed at members of the dental team either currently with or hoping to progress to a role with managerial responsibility.
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the main employment law aspects of job adverts, shortlisting and interview process.
- Describe the main employment law aspects of making a job offer and potential conditions of the offer.
- Describe the employment documentation to put in place for a new employee starting e.g. statement of main terms of employment.
- Provide tips for retention of employees.

This Video is available on Portal TV to access please:
- Click on the Portal TV Logo
- Log into Portal
- Once logged in, go to iBooklet/Search for.../Portal TV in the menu on the left
- Click on Dental
- Look for the window for the recording you wish to view. In this case "Recruitment and Retention of Employees in the Dental Sector" and click on the blue button "REGISTER NOW"
- Once you complete your booking and pay the Portal charge, go back to the Portal TV tab and click the "REFRESH" button
- When you re-enter Dental, you will note that you are now registered and you can watch the recording by clicking on the video
- Once you have watched the recording, you can close the recording window
- To demonstrate you have watched the recording and generate your certificate of attendance, you must return your reflective comments on the shortened evaluation form you will find in iBooklet/Manage.../Your Course Evaluations
- Once you have submitted your form, your certificate can be accessed and downloaded in iBooklet/Reports & Certificates/Course Certificates in the usual way
- You will have access to the recording until 30.09.2025 and can watch it as many times as you wish
