Important information regarding Physician Associate (PA) roles

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA) have jointly published Physician associates – background to the profession | RCP London to assist colleagues and stakeholders' understanding of the PA role.The FPA and the RCP recognise there are many questions including relating to working as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), scope of practice and supervision requirements and the future of this workforce, which this publication aims to answer.

Latest update from GMC

On 22 August, GMC  published the updated  standards of patient care and professional behaviour expected of all doctors in the UK.  Get to know Good medical practice 2024 - GMC (gmc-uk.org)

GMC states “The updated standards will come into effect on 30 January 2024. These standards will also apply to Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates in the future, once they are regulated by us”
