The NES Dental Core Training team understand the pressures young adults face and the impact these may have on their mental health and wellbeing. The NES Mental Health Improvement and suicide prevention team have developed this Sway to help support staff across the public sector and beyond to develop the knowledge and skills needed to promote good mental health and wellbeing across the whole population and to prevent mental ill health, self-harm or suicide.

Mental health improvement, and prevention of self-harm and suicide

It is important we support the DCTs in all aspects of their wellbeing; however, please never feel this is your responsibility alone, reach out to us at NES to help support you. Remember this is not your area of expertise or part of your mentoring role, there are appropriate support services DCTs can be directed to with your support.

Not all dental professionals are aware of the support available or how to access the help they need. In this initial document, which we expect to evolve and further develop, we have put together a list of useful resources and contacts to support you, your colleagues, and your family

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support for the Dental Team in Scotland

Resources on Turas Learn

NES Dental recognise that occupational stress is common when training and working in the dental professions and that this can lead to burnout and mental ill health. We see supporting the mental health of everyone who comes in to contact with our training programmes and educational resources as a key priority. We regularly run webinars and training events on mental health and wellbeing for all members of the dental team and these are advertised via NES Portal alerts and can also be found in NES Portal/iBooklet
