Near Me is a video consulting service that enables people to attend appointments from home or wherever is convenient. The service is already widely used across NHS Scotland for health and care appointments and is now being rolled out more widely across other health and care organisations. Hear from Mark Burrell and Vicki Greig as they share their journey of embedding the use of Near Me consultations into the oral and maxillofacial surgery referral pathway in NHS Grampian. This is their story of the leadership required to embed technology into a service, from the challenges they faced, the opportunities they found and how they brought people with them along the way.
Mark Burrell – Mark is Service Clinical Director for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in NHS Grampian with a keen interest in how new patient pathways involving the use of digital can be taken forward and enhanced by teams.
Vicki Greig – Vicki is a Consultant in Oral Surgery in NHS Grampian and found herself tasked with building a new service in the midst of the pandemic, requiring the rapid transformation of traditional face-to-face patient pathways to ones using digital technology. Vicki worked jointly with Mark as part of the Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme to evaluate the implementation of these new pathways and review their integration into the long term plan for their combined service.
