Add to favourites

The Scottish Advanced Practice Educators Network (SAPEN) was established in March 2021. This multiprofessional network comprises of ten Advanced Practice programme leads from higher education institutes in Scotland, colleagues from NHS board areas, NHS Education for Scotland NMAHP and Pharmacy directorates, the Scottish Ambulance Service and NHS24.

The main aim of this network is to provide a coordinated approach to the development of advanced practice education in Scotland. This includes influencing and supporting the development of advanced practice and advanced practice education programmes in Scotland which have been designed in line with Scottish Government/NHS Education for Scotland requirements.

The network aims to ensure quality and consistency is maintained across all advanced practice programmes in Scotland. As part of this remit, core members of SAPEN have agreement through the regional academies and SAPEN itself to develop guiding principles for advanced practice supervision. It is as a result of this collaborative work that the minimum standards for Advanced Practice Supervision have been developed.
