Regulating anaesthesia associates and physician associates – public consultation open

On 17th February 2023, the Department of Health and Social Care, on behalf of the UK Government and the devolved legislatures, published ‘Regulating anaesthesia associates and physician associates’, a public consultation on the draft legislation to bring physician associates and anaesthesia associates into regulation. This legislation represents the first part of the government’s commitment to modernise the regulatory system for healthcare professionals across the UK, and the legislative provisions have been drafted on the basis of the detailed policy proposals set out in the government’s response to the ‘Regulating healthcare professionals, protecting the public’ consultation.
