We are in the process of creating new learning resources to support your development as a clinical supervisor. The new resources will be aligned to the knowledge, skills and behaviour statements outlined in the clinical supervision capability framework. During this development phase, there are a range of resources and useful documents to help you develop your knowledge and skills for the role of restorative supervisor.
One way to develop your knowledge and skills to facilitate restorative supervision is to attend the NES restorative supervisor preparation programme which is delivered in local health boards and nationally. Using a blended learning approach, it requires participants to complete four Turas eLearning units and attend four in-person or virtual workshops.
The learning units can be completed prior to attending the first workshop or accessed concurrently with each aligned workshop. This will depend on your preferred learning approach and study time available. Each unit takes approximately1.5 hours to complete.
The purpose of the interactive workshops, which are approximately three hours long, is to enable you to consolidate your learning from the Turas units and provide you with the opportunity for skills development, discussion and practice.
If you would like to undertake the restorative supervisor preparation programme, have a discussion with your line manager to ensure you have their support for the required study time, and that it aligns with your agreed professional development goals.
Find out if workshops are available in your Health Board by contacting your practice development or clinical education and training team. You can also get in touch with the local NES nursing and midwifery practice educator. Their contact details are available on the NES nursing and midwifery practice educator web page.
