This project has been run in conjunction with Edinburgh University with the aim of supporting self-management of patients with COPD. RESpeck sensors linked to smartphones were used to remotely monitor patients’ symptoms and activity levels whilst aa app supports completion of exercises and symptom diary. It is hoped in future that the data collected could indicate when a patient is becoming unwell and promote timely access to treatment, reducing likelihood of hospital admission. This project has looked at patient feedback following the use of this remote monitoring system and whether this would fit into our Pulmonary Rehabilitation service.
