NES will host an interactive online meeting where you will meet our subject matter experts from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

NES deliver their education using Microsoft Teams. 

The admin team will issue a link to your meeting in the run up to the event. This will be delivered in an email. 

 

 

It is important that you get the best learning experience when joining online, here are some tips to help prepare for you online session.

  • Please join the meeting from a laptop/ desktop computer to ensure you can access all functions of teams. 
  • We recommend to plan the use of a quiet space.
  • You will be expected to have your camera on throughout the duration of the meeting.
  • You are expected to interact when prompted.
  • The facilitator will do an audio check when you enter the online meeting space.
  • Technical support will be available prior to, and during the event.

Aim of the session 

Introduce participants to providing dental care for patients with a range of physical and/or cognitive disabilities. Provide a variety of strategies to facilitate treatment provision.

Intended Learning outcomes

  1. Discuss common physical and cognitive disabilities and recognise the significant variation in severity and impact of conditions on day to day life and ability to cope with dental treatment.
  2. Plan dental treatment taking account of challenges patients may face as a result of disabilities.
  3. Recognise available communication aids and encourage patients to make use of their communication aids during delivery of dental care.
  4. Discuss possible modifications which could facilitate dental treatment for patients with disabilities.
