I was keen to explore electronic prescribing (HEPMA) data to influence prescribing practice. Feedback from senior doctors when asked about prescribing trends in their team is often ‘I have no idea’. I was able to use new and existing digital software to provide consultant’s feedback on their individual data.
We choose to look at antimicrobials and I partnered up with the antimicrobial team to enable us to visualise key prescribing indicators and trends in an effort to reduce unwanted variation.
Initial feedback from doctors has been really positive and we’re looking to other areas where change and improvements can be made.
