My original project idea was to develop an app for use within clinical CF teams and patients throughout Scotland. The enormity of this project coupled with a reduction in my working hours forced me to identify a project I was already working on and change my focus. The Cystic Fibrosis Nursing Association UK and Ireland (CFNA) has approximately 450 members split into 7 regional groups and provides knowledge, support and representation of CF nursing throughout the UK and Ireland. The current CFNA website is costly, outdated and no longer fit for purpose. The forum was identified as the most active area of website however moderation and password protection limited its use in the wider group. In the 2 year period from 23/3/20 – 31/3/22, 40 questions were posted by members and only 22 were answered. Email addresses and distribution lists quickly became outdated almost as soon as they were added to the website by the third party website manager.
