
IMT3 essential pre-course preparation
This video on non-technical skills has been produced by two of the faculty, to allow trainees attending the IMT1 boot camp to get the best possible learning from the immersive simulation scenarios. You might also find it interesting to view this prior to the registrar ready course, to refresh your memory of non-technical skills.

Please take the time to revise your skills in this area, view this as many times as required to refresh your memory and feel completely competent to perform this key step. All of the other procedures on the course will be performed with the expectation of full asepsis, as covered at boot camp.
The following three videos have been prepared as essential pre-course preparation for the shadowboxing sessions at the IM3 registrar ready course. Please review them and bring any questions you have to the relevant sessions.
There is the opportunity to be signed off as ‘ready for directly supervised workplace practice’ in ultrasound guided central venous catheterisation. You must refresh this skill, even if you already feel confident in this procedure, to ensure that a common standard is attained in IM3.
It is usually very quickly obvious to faculty if you have not engaged with this pre-course learning. In this situation, it is unlikely you will achieve the required standard to be signed off in this procedure.
