Colon Capsule Endoscopy (CCE) is an adjunctive diagnostic test, which alongside optical colonoscopy is a highly accurate tool for investigating lower gastrointestinal (GI) disease. CCE, when a complete test has been performed, is not inferior to colonoscopy and it adds extra capacity into health services with the aim of reducing waiting times for all lower GI diagnostics in NHS Scotland.
In our CCE Playbook, we have summarised key information encompassing the patient information, bowel preparation, vetting and reporting procedures, how we capture data from every patient participating in the national programme and a summary of the latest evidence base.
