The session plan for your first day of START, train the trainer.
We will begin your day with a presentation to discuss the roles and responsibilities of being a VT Trainer. Here you will find out about your sessional commitments, discuss finances in relation to the course and experience an overview of the VT year.
Our Advisors will offer guidance which will advise and encourage fair recruitment that remains consistent and in accordance with current legal and ethical legislation. You will be guided through principles of fair selection, dental specific competency based interview techniques, evaluation and how to avoid making pre-employment bias decisions.
We will discuss assigning the right nurse to support your VDP, alongside how to manage your VPD's appointment book. You will be given guidance on patient selection and advice on equipment and materials to suit the expectations and workload of your newly qualified clinician. We will introduce you to the role of your advisor and how they can support you, as well as your VDP as you enter into a training partnership.
As undergraduates, VDPs will have had limited exposure to clinical photography, yet will be expected to take photographs regularly in their training year. Knowledge of clinical photography is varied amongst GDPs. Our Advisers will help to develop your skills in order to support your VDP.
