Within high secure forensic mental health care, patients have very limited access to technology, with many having no access at all. This can be for a variety of reasons, and as such, face inequality and are at a disadvantage when moving to conditions of lesser security. Many will be unaware of the huge role that technology plays in our communities and in our day to day lives in general. My improvement project aimed to establish a group programme, in line with the Hospitals Employability Pathway, to support patients to develop their digital skills and to participate more fully in this new digital world. Capabilities of digital platforms would be explored to develop digital knowledge, as well as developing patient specific needs such as improving literacy and numeracy or fine motor skills.
