The Urology Programme is focussed on the redesign and reimagining of pathways and interventions to provide the optimal level of care for outpatients, that is both timely and effective. Delivery of safe, effective timely and person-centred Urology services, standardising pathways through a ‘ once for Scotland’ approach where possible.

MPPP has continued to support outputs of SAC Urology workshops including:

  • Implementation of ACRT/PIR
  • Support implementation of new symptom and diagnostic pathways
  • Workforce redesign

MPPP is working to support the recently established Endoscopy and Urology Diagnostic Elective Care Group, ( EUDECG) to progress Urology strategy and support implementation of key workstreams:

  • Cystoscopy pathway
  • Enhanced nurse-led roles
  • Development of One Stop Clinics/Diagnostic Hubs

Together with the Urology community and engagement with other key stakeholders including Primary Care, ANPs, and Radiology we aim to see:

  • A reduction in the number of outpatient appointments in Secondary care
  • A renewed focus on developing a suite of supported self-management and digital resources
  • Improved access to diagnostics
  • Reduction in Cystoscopies
