Programme introduction/Aims and objectives

The aim of this workstream is to deliver a modern neurology patient pathway in order to improve access to care in a sustainable way. This is addressed by the following primary drivers:

  • Improved communications (primary, secondary, patient) at referral
  • Clear and consistent referral criteria
  • Use of Active Clinical Referral Triage (ACRT) / Patient Initiated Review (PIR) to increase access and reduce burden
  • Access to care and support once in the system
  • Staffing, succession planning and skillmix

Key activities

Current activities include:

  • Ongoing promotion of ACRT to support all Boards in maximising the benefit that high quality triage can offer.
