Programme introduction/Aims and objectives
The aim of this workstream is to support effective and faster service change to ensure patients are able to access healthcare in a timely manner by:
- Facilitation of mutual learning an support for colleagues during the COVID-19 response allowing for the maintenance of services, sharing of good practice and sharing of national guidance available such as infection, prevention and control and prioritisation of surgery.
- Supporting implementation of Active Clinical Referral Triage (ACRT) and Patient Initiated Review (PIR)
- Supporting implementation of national guidance for Lumps/Bumps/Haemorroids, inclusive of patient-centred information and shared decision making

Ongoing activities include:

2-3 monthly virtual meetings with General Surgery multi-disciplinary team colleagues in NHS Board

Sharing of national supporting documents for current COVID-19 pandemic, such as infection control, etc.
- Support establishment of 2 x ACNs for nurse-led services pilot for Biliary Colic and Inguinal Hernia
