Programme introduction/Aims and objectives
To ensure parity and equity of access to outpatient cardiology services across NHS Scotland. MPPP Cardiology will maintain alignment with the Heart Disease Improvement Plan. The MPPP cardiology speciality group aims to:
- Connect cardiology teams from each Health Board area
- Share best practice
- Identify innovation
- Support test of change projects and upscale where feasible.

Key activities

Heart Failure – remote health pathway. Facilitation of clinical advisory group and collaboration with Technology Enabled Care Team in the design and implementation of a Heart Failure remote health pathway. On completion, this shall be available to all health boards.

HeartFlow Fractional Flow Reserve CT – pilot project in NHS Western Isles currently underway, with NHS Borders and Forth Valley also due to begin piloting HeartFlow in early 2022. Referral to Scottish Health Technologies Group for Health Technology Assessment to understand benefits and inform scalability.

- Support health boards to implement principles of ACRT and discharge PIR in order to best manage capacity and demand
