The Rural Generic (Health & Social Care) Support Worker (RGSW) needs to be appropriately trained to meet the requirements of their role and requires to be prepared both initially and on an ongoing basis to develop and maintain knowledge and skills. Where appropriate this would be underpinned by formal qualifications (academic and/or vocational) and would support career development within the post or as preparation for progression within a career framework.
