NES Dental Core Training Conference : Presentation and Poster Event 2026
This national event will take place in-person on Friday 5th June at 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow and give all levels of Dental Core Trainee (DCT) the opportunity to communicate and showcase their achievements during their current training post. Commendations will be awarded to the top three entrants in the poster and presentation categories, judged by a panel of Dental Core Training Advisers. Those selected to give presentations will receive feedback.
Dear DCT,
The conference is an excellent opportunity for you to submit abstracts showcasing work you have undertaken this year. There are opportunities for both poster and oral presentations at this national conference.
There will be an in-person DCT conference held on Friday 5th June at 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow between 9.30am - 4.30pm. If you are displaying a poster at the conference, you will be asked to attend from 9.15am. Posters should be printed by you in advance. Please arrange to attend this all-day event and make travel/accommodation arrangements as soon as possible. If you cannot make the event, please email the dental core training inbox.
The CTA team are very much looking forward to seeing examples of the good work that has taken place during the 2025/2026 training year throughout Scotland.

How to enter
HOW TO ENTER:
Abstracts (400 words maximum) are invited for:
- A quality improvement project - The project must have started but need not be complete by the time of the conference
- An audit project - Cycle 1 must be complete, and ideally cycle 2 but this is not a requirement.
- A case report which clearly demonstrates learning opportunities
Each trainee can enter one abstract.
For projects involving a number of DCTs, a designated lead author should enter the abstract and would be expected to be the presenter if the abstract is selected. Please liaise with your co-authors in advance of making abstract submissions.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT BY COMPLETING THIS Microsoft Forms - the form will be live from 2nd April 2026 to 24th April 2026.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF SELECTION:
The adjudication panel will assess the entries and select five for a 10-minute (maximum) Oral Presentation. Posters will also be selected to be showcased in-person at the event.
Selected poster authors should submit their entry to dentalcoretraining@nes.scot.nhs.uk by 29th May 2026.
Trainees who are invited to give Oral Presentations should submit the completed presentation to dentalcoretraining@nes.scot.nhs.uk by 29th May 2026.
AWARD OF CERTIFICATES:
Following adjudication, the top three presentations and top three posters will be awarded a certificate. For group projects a certificate will be awarded for presentation and project content to the presenter. All co-authors will receive a separate certificate, acknowledging their contribution to the content.

Governance
In line with GDPR legislation, all patient identifiable information must be removed from the presentation or poster. If photographic or radiographic images are used, please ensure that you have the patient’s permission to use these. Your employing health board will have an appropriate consent form for such occasions and this should be used and submitted with your presentation or poster if required.
If the work represented has been undertaken in conjunction with other individuals, please ensure that you have their permission to include this work and that this is referenced and credited appropriately. It may also be pertinent to inform a clinical lead or head of department.
If all or part of the content has been used previously in a presentation or poster, the details of this should be clearly stated in the abstract.
