What it takes to do OD
What it takes to do OD

Organisation Development involves both experienced practitioners in OD, and leaders and managers from all disciplines.  It is a way of working which supports a relational approach to change processes within a team, service or system, and is focussed on supporting positive, healthy workplace cultures.  This matrix outlines the knowledge and skills which are associated with doing OD at different levels of experience within the system together with the personal attributes that apply to all levels of experience.

In order to help you develop your skills consistently throughout your career, the knowledge and skills matrix has been divided in to three different levels described below.

OD practice

- Aspiring Change AgentsDo you have responsibility for leading people through change and/or interest in growing your knowledge and skills for change and team development? This section will give you access to a range of resources and materials which will help you begin your development journey.

- OD PractitionersAre you in a professional OD role or similar and wish to build your skills? This section will give you access to a range of resources and materials which will help you to continue your development journey, building on the skills and experience you have gained at an Aspiring Change Agent level.

- Advanced OD PractitionerAre you an experienced OD professional wishing to further develop skills at a systems level working within complex environments? This section will give you access to a range of resources and materials which will help you develop your practice at an organisational and systems level building on the experience you gained working through the Aspiring Change Agent and OD Practitioner level.

To access further information and to work through each of the three levels, click on the titles in the menu on the left hand side of the page. The skills required at Aspiring Change Agent level will be supplemented by those described at the OD Practitioner level.  The skills gained operating at an OD Practitioner level will be enhanced by developing those described at an Advanced OD Practitioner level.

For those at the beginning of their career, it is recommended that you start at the Aspiring Change Agent level and work through the additional two levels.  For others at different stages of their career development, the OD Practitioner or Advanced OD Practitioner may be more relevant.
