Equality and Human Rights Commission

The Fairer Scotland Duty, based on section 1 of the Equality Act 2010, is a strategic duty which requires that listed authorities have due regard to the need to take steps to reduce inequalities of outcome caused by socio-economic disadvantage when making strategic decisions about how to exercise their functions.
