Vaccine specific training resources for registered practitioners relating to shingles (Herpes Zoster) Vaccination Programme.

Training resources

In order to further support the Shingles immunisation programme. NHS Education for Scotland in partnership with Public Health Scotland has revised the resources for registered healthcare practitioners. These can be found below and include training slides and accompanying notes.

Please note: These educational resources continue to be updated as required to support this programme but do not replace the clinical judgement of practitioners. Practitioners should refer to the Public Health England Green Book Chapter when administering the vaccine.

An updated CMO letter was published on 27th Oct 2021 providing further information on the 2021/22 shingles vaccination programme in Scotland which began on 1 September 2021 including the use of the non-live shingles vaccine, Shingrix®

New for November 2021: The shingles resource below has now been updated and covers both Zostavax and the new non-live Shingrix vaccine

The resource is available as a read only training power-point presentation, to open click “read only” when prompted.  The resource is also available in PDF form, displaying the slides and notes.
