Aim: To reduce the number of lost Echocardiogram (Echo) slots allocated to Inpatients in the Clinical Physiology Department at University Hospital Crosshouse by 85% by December 2016. There are a number of lost Echo slots every day as a direct result of the service being unable to get inpatients from the wards to the Department in time for their allocated appointment. As a result, the Clinical Physiology Department has, at any one time, between 10 and 20 inpatients on the PMS workbench at the end of the day and, ideally this should be cleared. Using the baseline data collected there is a potential annual saving in the region of £120,000 per year if Echo lost slots were reduced to zero.
