Biggart Community Hospital (BCH) provides care and rehabilitation for older people with complex care and rehabilitation needs. In May 2015 66% of inpatients did not meet Day of Care audit criteria leading to suboptimal care for patients and suboptimal system performance in BCH (LOS for rehab patients 40 days, occupancy 85-100%) and acute hospital (occupancy 85-100%), resulting in poorer outcomes for people and 'blocked' community and acute beds (average 15 delayed discharges). Aim: To improve length of stay in 8 rehab beds in Urquart Ward BCH from 40 days to 30 days by 30.06.16.
