East Ayrshire Council recognises the Improvement Science Model as a quality improvement programme which supports transformational change. It focuses on strengthening and building on practices and services, enabling local practitioners to test, measure, implement and scale up new ways of working to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. The Active Reading project is just one way that East Ayrshire have been using the model to raise attainment in Literacy. Aim: 23 of the 24 children in Literacy class 3.5 at Stewarton Academy will show an improvement in their reading level baseline assessment score, through the introduction of a ‘quality Active Reading lesson’ by June 2016.
