Midwives play a key role in assessment and support of health and well-being during pregnancy and the early post-natal period. Therefore early assessment during pregnancy can help identify when a woman may require additional support to enable her and her baby to achieve the best health and well-being outcomes. Using the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) Practice Model and Well Being Indicator (WBI) tool assists Argyll and Bute Midwives to identify vulnerable pregnant women early and put appropriate interventions and measures in place to support the women throughout their pregnancy. Aim: By June 2016, 95% of Antenatal woman in Cowal have a Health Plan Indicator (HPI) allocated by 16 weeks gestation.
