Why Evaluation Matters

When communities, volunteers, and organisations come together to improve recruitment and retention, it’s important to pause regularly and check whether the work is creating the change people hoped for. Evaluation helps groups reflect on progress, understand what’s helping or hindering, and make informed choices about where to focus energy next.

In remote and rural areas, even small signs of progress can be significant. Evaluation doesn’t need to be complex or technical — it just needs to be honest, useful, and able to guide the next steps.
