Human Factors for Safety Learning Reviews
A flexible e‑learning programme to strengthen confidence and capability in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred SLRs.
A new NES Skilled Level e‑learning programme, Human Factors for Safety Learning Reviews, will soon be available on TURAS. This flexible, fully online course is designed to strengthen the capability and confidence of the health and social care workforce in applying human factors principles to support high‑quality, compassionate Safety Learning Reviews (SLRs).
Built from existing NES resources and structured into six accessible modules, the course introduces key concepts, practical tools and good‑practice guidance to support safe, person‑centred learning after safety occurrences.
Course Modules
· Module 1: Engaging and supporting all people impacted by Safety Occurrences
· Module 2: Systems Thinking for Safety Learning Reviews
· Module 3: Systems Thinking and Complexity
· Module 4: Safety Learning Reviews: Basic Resources to Guide Good Practice
· Module 5: Practical Support Tools – work system analysis, controlling risks and assessing quality
· Module 6: Common Traps to Avoid in Safety Learning Reviews
Learning Activities & Assessment
Learners will complete:
· A short formative assessment at the end of each module
Achieving ≥80% on the formative assessments and submitting the reflective log electronically to NES will unlock a Certificate of Completion, including 20 hours of CPD.
