Add to favourites

The National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care is excited to announce the launch of a new Remote and Rural Research Mentorship Programme. Our programme is aimed at early career or first-time researchers looking for support and guidance for carrying out remote and rural focused research, and at more experienced remote and rural researchers who are enthusiastic about helping new researchers grow their confidence and capacity.

What can the programme offer you?

If you are an early career or first-time researcher, our programme can help you:

  • Grow your confidence and receive constructive feedback in an environment built to support you.

  • Learn and grow your research skills from seasoned researchers who understand the complexities in research.

  • Grow your network and connect with other researchers across the NHS in Scotland.

  • Accelerate your learning with tailored and practical help from experts in remote, rural, and island health and care research.

If you are an experienced researcher with an enthusiasm for supporting and mentoring, our programme can help you:

  • Share your experience and wisdom and make a meaningful contribution to growing the research capacity in remote, rural, and island areas in Scotland.

  • Grow your skills in leadership, teaching, communication, and coaching.

  • Be challenged with fresh ideas and new perspectives from researchers at the start of their journey.

  • Make a difference by supporting the professional growth and development of peers within the NHS.

Mentoring
How it works
  1. If you’re a mentor looking to offer your support and expertise, your first step is to complete our online application form. Your details will then be stored in our Mentor Directory. If you’re a mentee requesting support from an experienced researcher, you’ll complete our mentee application form.

  2. Our team will review all mentee applications against our Mentor Directory and will match mentees with mentors based on the needs identified, availability, specialist areas, etc.

  3. Once a match has been identified and both parties agree in principle to being matched up, we facilitate an introduction, and your mentorship journey begins!
