This accessibility statement applies to the Turas People application.
This application is run by NHS Education for Scotland. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this application. For example, that means you should be able to:
• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the application using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the application using speech recognition software
• skip to content links at the top of the page
We’ve also made the application text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Parts of this application are not fully accessible. For example:
• some focus styles are missing on datatables and dropdown menus, making it visually difficult to see which element is selected when using a keyboard
• there are some colour contrast issues across the application which might make text difficult to read for users with visual impairments
• users may have difficulty navigating tabbed interfaces using a keyboard or screen reader
• nested datatables are not accessible to users of screen readers
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this application.
If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us at:

NHS Education for Scotland is committed to making its applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
The application has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard.
This application is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard due to the non-compliances listed below.
The content is non-accessible for the following reasons:
• the application is not fully optimised for use with screen readers, as ARIA landmark roles are missing – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria 1.3.1: Info and Relationships and 2.4.1: Bypass Blocks
• missing focus styles on datatables and dropdown menus – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.4.7: Focus Visible
• insufficient colour contrast in some interface elements – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.3: Contrast (Minimum)
• tabbed navigation cannot be reliably operated using screen readers or keyboard input – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria 2.1.1: Keyboard and 4.1.2: Name, Role, Value
• nested datatables are not accessible to assistive technologies – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria 1.3.1: Info and Relationships and 4.1.2: Name, Role, Value
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
The Turas platform is going through a redesign process and will be implementing a new design system which will bring older applications up to the WCAG 2.2 standard.
