This accessibility statement applies to the Turas Care Management application (https://turascare.nes.nhs.scot/).
This application is run by NHS Education for Scotland. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this application. For example, that means you should be able to:
• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the application using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the application using speech recognition software
• skip to content links at the top of the page
We’ve also made the application text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
• some focus styles are missing, which makes it visually difficult to see what element is currently selected when using a keyboard
• the main navigation bar contains duplicate IDs, which can cause confusion for screen readers
• users navigating with a keyboard may experience difficulty accessing data displayed through external software such as Power BI
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this application.
If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us at:
support.web@nes.scot.nhs.uk
We’ll consider your request and get back to you within five working days.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’).
If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
NHS Education for Scotland is committed to making its applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
The application has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard.
This application is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard due to the non-compliances listed below.
The content is non-accessible for the following reasons:
• duplicate IDs in the main navigation bar make it difficult for screen readers to differentiate between elements – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 4.1.1: Parsing
• missing focus styles on some action buttons make it hard to identify keyboard focus – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.4.7: Focus Visible
• users relying on keyboard navigation may have difficulty accessing external data (e.g. Power BI) – this fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria 2.1.1: Keyboard and 2.1.2: No Keyboard Trap
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
The Turas platform is going through a redesign process and will be implementing a new design system which will bring older applications up to the WCAG 2.2 standard.
Turas Learn and Portfolio are the 1st apps scheduled to be upgraded in the 2025/2026 financial year.
