Developed by NHS Education for Scotland on behalf of Scottish Government and COSLA, the Thriving in a Digital Age Pathways offer learning resources and reflective activities to help you broaden your knowledge of key digital and data topics. There are several pathways for you to work through. The Digital and Data Pathway will develop your understanding of the fundamental concepts related to digital health and care, and there are also topic specific pathways that will provide more focussed learning on key areas of digital.

Introduction
Four coloured triangles increasing in size with a black line going across representing a pathway

Each pathway contains 4 cumulative levels; Explore, Embed, Drive and Shape. These levels are aligned to individual levels of responsibility and are designed for you to work through at your own pace. More information on what you will find at each pathway level can be found below in the Level Descriptions section.

Each level has a number of steps for you to work through, with a link to a resource (something to read, watch, or listen to) and suggested activities to help you reflect on what you have learnt, and consider how you can apply this in your own organisation. The themes chosen build on ideas introduced in the pathway before. Find out more in the Pathways Overview section, or go to the How to Use the Pathways and FAQs pages.

Embed

This pathway for anyone who is responsible for managing or supporting others (e.g. supervisors, team leaders, first level managers), or anyone aspiring to develop their knowledge beyond the Explore pathway. This pathway builds on the themes introduced in Explore. It encourages consideration of how these concepts can be embedded across day-to-day tasks, teams and services, and introduces new ideas.

Drive

This pathway is for anyone involved in leading and influencing change across services and organisations (e.g. senior managers, service or programme leads). By developing the content in Embed, this pathway focuses on how the concepts can be threaded through ways of working to drive cultural change in organisations.

Shape

This pathway is for anyone responsible for making strategic decisions or leading organisations at a local, regional or national level (e.g. policy-makers, board-level leaders, chief executives, business owners, directors). This pathway encapsulates the insights from Explore, Embed and Drive. It encourages consideration of how these ideas can be used to shape decisions and actions to have significant, positive impact for the sector.
