Background: What and Why

The National Centre for Remote & Rural Health & Care (the Centre) has initiated connections with international colleagues for knowledge exchange and peer learning. This engagement has been initiated through our engagement with the University of Dundee and the Scottish Advanced Practice Educators Network (SAPEN).   Our discussions with national colleagues have focussed on the Rural Advanced Practice (RAP) MSc programme and the current agenda on the regulation of Advanced practice

Description: Who and How

We engage and collaborate with national and international connections to exchange knowledge and work projects for remote, rural and island communities. This enables us to keep up to date on national and international discussions on the development of advanced practice regulation and rural practice educational progress.

Stakeholders include:-

  • Queensland Government, Australia
  • New Zealand Government
  • University of South Wales
  • Lincoln institute for rural health
  • South Wales UK
  • Texas, USA

Expected outcome:  When and What Difference

  • Improved education initiatives for remote & rural practitioners
  • Equity of access to education in rural communities
  • Reduce duplication of projects/education resources
  • Learn from national and international perspectives and disseminate to rural practitioners in Scotland
