DEW Awards and recognition
The Digital Leaders 100 (DL100) list celebrates the teams and individuals who work hard behind the scenes to secure the UK’s Digital Transformation. Since 2013 they have been finding digital pioneers from across the UK.
A panel of judges shortlisted the entries in each of the ten categories to create this year’s DL100 list for 2024, and the Digitally Enabled Workforce Team within NHS Education for Scotland were delighted to be shortlisted for an award in the category ‘Digital Skills or Talent Initiative of the Year 2024’.
While the team didn't win this is a huge achievement to be recognised amongst some of the best teams and leaders from across the UK.
Holyrood Connect hosted its 7th annual Digital Health and Care Awards in Edinburgh in February 2024. The DEW team won in the category of Digital Health and Care Team Award where True transformation is rarely delivered by one individual - indeed, it benefits from a range of perspectives and skills. This award recognises teams across Scotland's health and social care sector who have developed their skills and internal culture to deliver transformative digital projects that have improved the delivery of services.
Two members of our team Emma Scatterty, Specialist Lead: Digital Leadership and Pamela Dimberline, Specialist Lead: Digital Health and Care were in attendance to collect the award along with our Director of Workforce Tracey Ashworth Davies.
Following a successful poster abstract on the development of our new digital transformation postgraduate programme in partnership with Edinburgh University, we were invited to showcase a printed poster at the DigiFest event, along with a virtual ePoster on the Learning Toolbox platform [link?]. The Poster Review Panel determined that successful posters portrayed a mix of digital health and social care service delivery and digital health and social care research projects.
The master's level Leading Digital Transformation in Health and Care for Scotland programme, is a joint strategic approach and policy pledge by Scottish Government and COSLA. It is led by NHS Education for Scotland as part of the Digital Skills and Leadership Programme and delivered by the University of Edinburgh.
The DEW team won an award in the category of ' Take responsibility and lead by example'.
The team were nominated for building the foundations to create the customer networks needed to achieve and support continued collaboration across the sector. Also their ability in navigating through an ever changing landscape and expertise in customer management had helped form the foundations of professional working relationship.
Programme Lead, Paula Baird won in the category 'Work in partnership to a clear common cause'.
Paula was nominated for going the extra mile in demonstrating NES values of being collaborative and engaged and engaging by pulling together a large and diverse programme board to influence, inform and support the work of the team. Paula ensured the team’s vision has been shared and consistently seeks to collaborate and connect with others across a complex health and care landscape.
Specialist Lead Emma Scatterty also won an award in the category of ' Look ahead and be creative'.
Emma was nominated for being instrumental in successfully scaling up the Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme from 30 to over 75 participants per cohort. This was done at a pace that required Emma to look ahead and be creative in how to successfully engage with a diverse health and care sector.
