Some resources in this guide are suitable for doctors entering formal medical training programmes, whilst others are for doctors joining Health Boards at all grades, across all specialities.

OrientationYou will be invited to attend the WINS face-to-face event. Attendees will be invited by PSD Scotland. Please contact ejaz.farooqui@nhs.scot, Administrative Officer, Medical Directorate PSD Scotland, for more information.
Training Programme InductionFor doctors joining a formal medical training programme, you will receive information on your programme induction from your Training Programme Directors.
Health Board Onboarding InformationThe HR or Medical Staffing team from the employing Health Board will provide you with a contract of employment, information about how you will be paid, your location and hours of work. Guidance will also be provided on local amenities and support networks.
IMG LeadThere is a nominated IMG Lead in Health Boards to support IMGs new to NHS Scotland. Find your local lead on the Scotland Deanery website and navigate down the list to NHS Scotland Health Board Contacts.
Health Board InductionYou will receive an induction to the Health Board you will work for. The HR team, Medical Staffing team and IMG Lead can provide further information.
Enhanced Simulation CoursesIn-person enhanced simulation sessions are available in several Health Boards to help IMGs with some of the challenges they may experience if they are new to practising in the UK. These provide a learning experience in a safe environment and are not assessed. Contact your Health Board contact for information about these sessions.
