Containing and controlling antimicrobial resistance: An education framework for health and social care in Scotland

Consultation on draft education framework

NHS Education for Scotland (NES), in close collaboration with the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG) and Glasgow Caledonian University have created a draft framework “Containing and controlling antimicrobial resistance: An education framework for health and social care in Scotland” to support the education of health and social care staff and students in Scotland.

The work is being supported by a multidisciplinary Short Life Working Group with Scottish antimicrobial specialists and stakeholders from various health and social care settings.

We have now reached the consultation stage and are seeking feedback from a wide range of staff and perspectives - from learners to line managers, educators and organisations - to ensure the framework is clear, usable and right for staff across health and social care.

A final version of the framework will be published on Turas Learn in autumn 2024.

Who is the framework for?

The framework covers everyone working or preparing to work within health and social care in Scotland, who interacts with those in care or their carers, either by being involved in direct care or in a supporting role. It also includes laboratory staff who provide laboratory results and reports essential for the treatment of infections, and staff in management roles who can influence and direct the provision of services.
