Prostate Cancer

Add to favourites

The main aim of the Prostate Cancer Pathway is to automate the notification of PSA results to patients. Patients will receive notification of their test result by SMS along with advice that varies dependent on the PSA result (based on a score in the PSA result and business rules that determine if the result is “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory”).

The PSA results are collected from the Health Boards SCI Store before being routed to Inhealthcare to trigger a pre-set communication to the patient.

PSA tests are performed every 6 months for the first 5 years, then annually from years 6 to 10.

Depending on the PSA result, the patient will receive either a questionnaire to complete additional questions, or a notification which will state that someone will contact them directly to discuss their result.
