Prostate Cancer

The main aim of the Prostate Cancer Pathway is the automatic notification of PSA results to patients. Patients will receive notification of their test results by email, SMS or automated telephone call. PSA scores received are checked against thresholds that determine if the result is "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory". Patients using email to receive notification of results will also be directed to advice depending upon the PSA result.

PSA tests are performed every 6 months for the first 5 years, then annually from years 6 to 10.

The PSA results are collected from the Health Boards before being routed to the digital pathway where the pre-set communication to the patient is performed.

Depending upon the PSA result, the patient will be asked if that have any concerns they wish to discuss, or a notification which will state that someone will contact them directly to discuss their result.
