This one day course it aimed at those trainers in Secondary care who are Clinical or Educational Supervisors for Foundation, Specialty or GPSTs, In Primary care it is useful for GPs who are a Foundation supervisor, a Retainer Mentor, or acting as a Clinical Supervisor in the OOH setting only. It is ideal for trainers of at least 5 years’ experience in an educational role.
The course aims to assist you to develop your skills and confidence in your supervisor role and to take on new challenges. It is an interactive and stimulating day with an opportunity to explore approaches and share experiences as an educator with peers.
It can be used to demonstrate ongoing development in relation to the Recognition of Trainers process at appraisal and is mapped to all 7 of the AoME framework areas.
The main areas of focus are:
· Understanding feedback
· Strategies for giving difficult feedback
· Role modelling and the learning environment
· Reflection in medical education
· ARCP panel roles
· Small group teaching

Target audience
Educational supervisors who have been in that role for 5 years or more. Recognised Trainers from secondary care or GPs who supervise Foundation doctors are most likely to benefit.
*This course is not for GPs who are GPST Educational Supervisors, as this group of trainers would be served by other TDC courses.
