Continuing Professional Development and Career Development – Be the best you can be eLearning Module
This module will help you reflect on your current knowledge, skills and behaviours and help you identify your learning needs to support your continuing professional development (CPD) journey.
This module is designed to help you improve your skills in writing applications and supporting statements.
This series of short animations can support you and your team to learn more about CPD and how to use the NMAHP Development Framework. We have provided some short activities and reflections to help you get the most from the learning.
CPD and Career Development
Recommended activities/reflections:
There are lots of ways in which you and your team can look at and consider different options for CPD. CPD could be raised during a team meeting and discuss potential CPD opportunities that you and others can access at work.
Why not take some time to reflect on what you are doing to support your development and think about your next steps. Record your reflection in your professional portfolio.
If you want to find out more about career pathways, have a chat with your colleagues and discuss their career development journeys and find out what worked for them.
Consider the key developments and milestones on your career pathway and use them to illustrate your journey. You can do this as a team activity or individually.
Remember to record any CPD activity in your professional portfolio to support your next appraisal and revalidation if appropriate.
NMAHP Development Framework
Recommended activities/reflections:
Team discussion to explore if you and your team might want to start to use it the framework to support appraisal discussions and to plan learning. What would this look like and what might you need to support you/team?
Use the development needs analysis tool (DNAT) to assess your learning and evidence your current level of practice, areas of strength and areas for development.
Remember to record any CPD activity in your professional portfolio to support your next appraisal and revalidation if appropriate.
Setting your learning goals and next steps

If you want to learn more about setting SMART goals, then watch this short animation.
If you have completed the DNAT then what are your next steps. Why not use the action planning tool to help you set your learning goals.
Reflect on the learning opportunities available in your own workplace for you and others like students.
Consider setting up a journal club to discuss relevant literature to support best practice.
