Medical devices and technology are used to support clinical care and treatment. However, their effectiveness can be impaired due to inadequate design, evaluation, and implementation resulting in unsafe and ineffective use. Human Factors provides an understanding of how people (users) interact with technology and offers design and re-design solutions for improvement. Human Factors input is needed for successful design, evaluation, and implementation of medical devices.
