Development pathway for non-medical cystoscopy

Add to favourites

The aim of the NHS Scotland non-medical cystoscopy educational programme is to provide a consistent accredited national pathway for the development of non-medical practitioners who can perform flexible cystoscopies as part of an advanced practice role. This is underpinned by the NMAHP Post-registration development framework.

A funded Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) award has been established to support the extension of clinical practice beyond the cystoscopy room, avoiding a task-focused approach and supporting a broader advanced practice pathway (Career Framework level 7), clinical integration, role responsibility and service leadership.

It should be noted that the levels of practice are intended as a model for role development and progression. While they may be in alignment with renumeration through Agenda for Change (AfC) they are not directly linked. Roles and renumeration remain a workforce decision.
