The COVID Maternity Remote Health Pathway has been developed to support maternity professionals to detect deterioration in symptomatic pregnant women to enable timely intervention and safer discharge from hospital.

Home Oxygen Monitoring (pulse oximetry), to detect low blood oxygen levels (hypoxia) associated with COVID-19, is an existing national remote health pathway available for all adults. The COVID-19 Service is supported by the Inhealthcare platform. The National Maternity Network and Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Team are supporting the roll-out of the Home Pulse Oximetry Monitoring pathway and Inhealthcare platform across maternity services.

We hope clinicians and pregnant women find the Inhealthcare COVID Maternity Service simple and easy to use, helping improve early detection and intervention around the management and support of  pregnant women with COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Remote Oxygen Monitoring in Maternity Services Clinical Guidance for Professionals supports clinicians to understand the COVID Maternity Service pathway. The document covers the suggested suitable target patient group,  includes a clinical assessment guide, assessing the suitability for remote monitoring and implementation pathway. The COVID-19 Remote Oxygen Monitoring in Maternity Services Implementation Guidance for Professionals  is to support  the national rollout of the COVID Maternity Service pathway across all maternity services in Scotland. The document includes introduction to the COVID-19 remote monitoring pathway, why the pathway has been updated for maternity patients, where to access pulse oximeters and resources supporting implementation plans.
