Trainee Handbook

NES Healthcare Science issues all Healthcare Science trainees within Scotland, regardless of whether they are NES-funded or not, a National Training Number (NTN). We also provide them with our trainee handbook when they commence their training.

We annually request the completion of a training plan for all Healthcare Science trainees. This request forms part of our role in quality assurance of training programmes across Scotland. Here is a basic training plan outline:


Supervision is a process of professional learning and development that enables individuals to reflect on and develop their knowledge, skills, and competence, through agreed and regular support with another professional. Effective supervision has multiple benefits for both the supervisee and supervisor, as well as the wider service and service users.

Special Measures
