Welcome to the Phototherapy and Photochemotherapy Online Course
This online training programme on phototherapy and photochemotherapy (PUVA) has been put together by Photonet, the National Managed Clinical Network (NMCN) for Phototherapy within Scotland, with the objective to improve patient care by empowering Scotland’s phototherapy workforce through education, training and lifelong learning.
On successful completion of this online module you will be able to print off a certificate. For staff administering phototherapy completion of this online module alone is not sufficient to confirm training in phototherapy. These staff also need to satisfactorily complete a period of supervised practice (including mentoring).
To obtain your competence in phototherapy you will need to complete the full Photonet phototherapy course along with a period of supervised practice (this requirement only applies to new members of staff who will be administering phototherapy).
You will:
Be a practitioner registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or the Health Professions Council OR be working under the direct supervision of a registered practitioner;
Be delivering/prescribing phototherapy to patients on a regular basis;
Be supported by your manager to take the programme.
To obtain your competence in phototherapy you will need to commit to:
Read the student/mentor guide
Complete the programme and assessment within six months of commencement
Complete all assessments to the satisfaction of your mentor
Maintain a work-based profile
