The workbook supports new Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to achieve the mandatory Induction Standards and provides a tool to record evidence of learning against each of the standards.
The workbook is designed to support the new HCSW and their assigned reviewer to plan their learning, keep track of progress, and to sign off when standards have been achieved. It offers guidance through helpful hints and tips to assist the HCSW to evidence the learning they have applied from induction, on the job and previous experience.
The workbook encourages a joint approach between the new HCSW and their reviewer, with regular discussion time built in to allow for additional support if needed.
The Induction Standards provide the building blocks for new HCSW's learning and development. Consolidation of the learning and identification of future learning needs can be identified during personal development review and planning discussions. Learning needs can be added to Turas Appraisal as part of the personal development plan. Completion of the Induction Standards and other mandatory training can be recorded in a learning portfolio.
